A racing memory with Pat: The Hawkeye 100 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA in 1995. It was a two day show & we had planned on going. I had to go out on the road that day when Pat called to see if I was going to make it back in time to get there. I had completely forgotten all about it. Pat decided not to go the first night since I wasn't going to be back in time. We decided to go ahead & try to make it in on Saturday night knowing we would have to start at the back of the B-mains. I don't know how he did it, but he qualified for the final A-main. He started the A-main 17th. Lap after lap he was slowly working his way towards the front & when the final checkered flags flew, Patrick was the winner of the Hawkeye 100 feature. A night I will never forget.

Describe Pat in one word: Friend
A racing memory with Pat: The one story that comes to mind is really one of the first races that Pat drove a USMTS race at Osky. He started 3rd or 4th row & after a few laps started losing spots & fell back quite aways. I was more than a little disappointed, thought we had a better car. About half way through the race he fond the spot & he started coming fast. Doug & I were on top of a trailer watching & freaking out he was passing 1 or 2 cars a lap. He finished 5th that night & I have never been so happy to finish 5th in my life. I knew after that I was going to like racing with this guy. He's exciting to watch & puts 100% in to every race. I hope to keep racing with him as long as I can.

A racing memory with Pat: After having a not so good night with the car setup one night at Boone, Pat came over to me "What do you want to change on the car Ernie? Everyone else has changed something on the car." This is funny because if you know me, I don't know diddly about setups.

A racing memory with Pat: It's been a lot of fun for me getting to be part of the program. It wasn't all that long ago when I was the guy with the cooler. It's been great for Jen and I being around all the pit crew, team members and Hot Damn Pat Graham during race events around the state. Pat and I have also had many o' fun times off the track!

Describe Pat in one word: Goodtimes
A racing memory with Pat: "Supernationals 2007"... After the races that evening Pat, Brian & myself decided to have a few beers & walk around the pits. The evening before a thunderstorm had left a large mud hole in the middle of the pits. We stood & watched golf cart after golf cart, 4 wheeler after 4 wheeler & eventually a pickup, all get stuck. Finally a smaller built girl pulls up in this very large pickup. She jumps out of the cab & starts ordering everyone in the area to get out of the way, SHE and her truck would be the one to handle the situation. Pat, Brian and I's jaws all but hit the ground. Once the chains were all hooked up & the girl jumped back in her rig, we watched, from a safe distance behind another hauler, this girl yank on that stuck truck. With that it was all Pat could do but go offer her support. That support was in the form of "Just put some slack in the chain & get a run at it!". It was a very memorable evening.

A racing memory with Pat : I mostly just work with Pat and I'm only at a few races with him throughout the year. I have been his engine builder for more years than I can remember..... A memory I have with Pat is an experience I will never forget. Pat and I got stranded in a snowstorm last winter after a meeting in Ankeny - work related we both knew wouldn't be good. We made it part way home and had to call a friend of mine to come with a tractor to save us in Pat's Honda in the worst snowstorm we had ever seen. We spent the night at their house warm with suds and food instead of in a snowbank and even had breakfast in the morning!!

A racing memory with Pat: It was about the 2nd time I went racing with Pat. We finished 5th at a USMTS show in Oskaloosa. At that time I felt there was some kind of a connection between Pat and I where racing was concerned.
